Seal Beach Pickleball Facilities To Get $2.6 Million Improvements

The city of Seal Beach has approved major improvements to the Seal Beach Tennis And Pickleball Center.

SEAL BEACH, CA — The Seal Beach city council approved a budget to repair and replace some aspects of the Seal Beach Tennis and Pickleball Center this month, the city reported.

Just under $2.6 million in renovations were approved in the plan, which includes over $400,000 for energy-efficient lights on the courts.

"The design team explored the possibility of reconfiguring the existing clubhouse to combine the clubhouse and locker room uses under one roof," Seal Beach City Manager Jill Ingram wrote.

The discussion to make improvements began in March, with the City Council Strategic Planning meeting.

During this meeting, City Council directed staff to evaluate the feasibility of incorporating the locker room into the clubhouse, and what would be needed to bring them up to current building and ADA codes, Public Works director Steve Myrter wrote in the proposal.

Features could include locker rooms with showers, restrooms, day-use lockers and changing space. An open-concept multipurpose room for private rentals or event space is also under consideration.

New LED court lighting will provide better "directionality and visibility" as well as provide lower maintenance costs.

In order to participate at the center, you must become a member, according to officials.

It is not yet known when the improvements will begin.
