DUI Checkpoint Scheduled For Wednesday In Seal Beach

The Seal Beach Police Department will be holding a DUI checkpoint this month.

SEAL BEACH, CA— The Seal Beach Police Department announced it would be holding a DUI checkpoint on Wednesday, Dec. 18 at an undisclosed location in the city.

According to SBPD, the locations are based on data trends that show where impaired driving-related crashes happen. Crashes involving an impaired driver can be reduced by up to 20 percent when well-publicized proactive DUI operations are conducted routinely, according to SBPD.

The checkpoint will take place from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m.

“We encourage everyone to plan ahead and make responsible choices,” Chief Michael Henderson said. “If you plan to consume alcohol, please designate a sober driver, use ride-sharing services, or utilize public transportation to ensure a safe journey home. Your safety is our priority.”

Impaired driving doesn't just include alcohol, some prescription medications, over-the-counter drugs, other illegal drugs and marijuana can also land someone a DUI.
