Seal Beach Police To Hold DUI Checkpoint Labor Day Weekend

The Seal Beach Police Department will be holding a DUI checkpoint this Labor Day weekend.

SEAL BEACH, CA— The Seal Beach Police Department announced it would be holding a DUI checkpoint this Labor Day weekend at an undisclosed location in the city.

According to SBPD, the locations are based on data trends that show where impaired driving-related crashes happen. Crashes involving an impaired driver can be reduced by up to 20 percent when well-publicized proactive DUI operations are conducted routinely, according to SBPD.

SBPD didn't specify the date, time or location of the checkpoint.

"The Seal Beach Police Department is committed to taking impaired drivers off the road. Driving under the influence is not only dangerous but also has significant consequences, some of which could be life-changing," SBPD said in a statement.

Impaired driving doesn't just include alcohol, some prescription medications, over-the-counter drugs, other illegal drugs and marijuana can also land someone a DUI.
