SigAlert: Jumper Prompts 405 Freeway Closure

SEAL BEACH, CA — The California Highway Patrol issued a SigAlert for the San Diego (405) Freeway at Bolsa Chica Road in Westminster because of a man threatening to jump from the overpass Wednesday night.

Authorities shut down the freeway's southbound lanes, backing up traffic for miles as they attempted to talk the man down. According to the CHP, the man was distraught following an argument with his family.

The closure began at about 9:45 p.m., and authorities were continuing to negotiate with the man as of 10:34 p.m. Commuters were advised to avoid the area.
