Trump Picks Ex-Los Al Mayor As Deputy Secretary Of Homeland Security

President-elect Donald Trump nominated former Los Alamitos Mayor Troy Edgar as the deputy secretary of Homeland Security.

LOS ALAMITOS, CA — President-elect Donald Trump nominated former Los Alamitos Mayor Troy Edgar as the deputy secretary of Homeland Security, he announced on Saturday.

Edgar worked on the Los Alamitos City Council for 12 years beginning in 2006 and served as mayor of the city three times. In his announcement, Trump commended Edgar's work during his time as Mayor of Los Alamitos.

"He helped me lead the City and County revolt against Sanctuary Cities in 2018," Trump said on his social media site Truth Social. "I am very excited to have Troy on our team, as he will help us Make America Great Again!"

Edgar is a U.S. Navy veteran and previously worked as an executive at Boeing and Price Waterhouse before serving as Chief Financial Officer for DHS in 2020. Currently, Edgar is an executive at IBM.

"Troy served for me previously as the Chief Financial Officer and Associate Deputy Under Secretary of Management for Homeland Security, where he did an outstanding job managing their $90 Billion Dollar budget, resourcing critical immigration policy, and funding Wall construction," Trump said.
