Bay Area City Is Richest In The USA With Over 25K Population: Report
See which city has the highest median household income in the country, and the 16 other Bay Area cities that made the Top 50.

LOS ALTOS, CA — Los Altos is the richest city in the country with a population over 25,000 based on median household income and median house price, according to U.S. Census Data Bureau’s American Community Survey data analyzed in a report by 24/7 Wall Street. But it’s far from the only Bay Area city to be included in the list - in fact, the Bay Area is overrepresented among America’s wealthiest communities. 11 out of the country’s top 25 were located in the Bay Area. 17 of the top 50 were also located here.
Outside the Bay Area, cities tended to be found in large metropolitan areas, particularly Boston, New York City, Washington, D.C., and Dallas.
Four SoCal cities - Ladera Ranch, Manhattan Beach, Rancho Palos Verdes, and North Tustin, cracked the top 50.

With a median household income of over $250,000, Los Altos, a leafy section in western Silicon Valley, is about three times wealthier than the median household in the United States. Its median home value of over $2 million is also over four times greater than the median household price of $410,200 in the United States. Los Altos also ranks third for the highest percentage of adults with a bachelor’s degree or higher at 85.9 percent.
The highest in that category is located, naturally, in University Park, Texas, a Dallas suburb that ranks second in the country for median household income.
