Contributors Wanted for 'Me and My Lawn Sign'

Lawn signs by themselves look a little lonely. 

For example, this one, which was taken along Morton Avenue in south Los Altos for Megan Satterlee (incumbency has its perks, including getting your lawn sign chosen for this example). Wouldn't it look better with a supporter next to it?

As lawn signs pop up with increasing frequency along major thoroughfares and neighborhood lanes, Los Altos Patch decided to delve into the why of these solitary statements. Did the owner of the lawn sign put it there because the candidate is the most adept on the issues? The handsomest or fairest? Or is the candidate an old classmate or steady tennis partner? 

Why drive by and wonder? Patch introduces "Me and My Lawn Sign," intended to put some personality into the lawn sign campaign front.

We issue an invitation to all Los Altans and (in the case of the Los Altos school board race) Mountain View residents, who have lawn signs up: Tell us why you put it there.

Simply get a friend or a relative to take a picture of yourself next to, or behind your lawn sign. Upload it to this article with a sentence or two in the caption.  

We'll get you started: "This is my lawn sign. It's here because ________"

Voila! You've created a platform for your candidate.

There is no limit on the number of submissions by candidate supporters. Patch will feature each one in the order that it comes in.
