The Philharmonic is a local group of musicians and lovers of classical music which offers an annual series of orchestral and chamber music concerts. December 10th, the Philharmonic will offer its Orchestra Concert II and a pre-concert talk at Cubberly Theatre.
December’s concert will include both contemporary and classical music. The program will begin with the Symphonic Metamorphosis on Themes of Carl Maria von Weber by Paul Hindemith, written in the 1940s and later choreographed by George Balanchine for the New York City Ballet under the title Metamorphoses. The second selection on the evening’s program is Unfinished Symphony by Franz Schubert which the Austrian composer began in 1822 but left with only two known complete movements. The evening concludes with a violin concerto by Nicolò Paganini, the celebrated Italian composer and violinist who wrote and played in the early 1800s, featuring soloist David Felberg.
The pre-concert talk is at 7:30pm.
