Fun For Kids in Downtown Los Altos Wednesday and Thursday

Summer's pleasures include music and performances at Linden Tree's Wednesday morning series. Then, merchants and the Village Association celebrate 'Kids' Day' Thursday evening at the Farmers Market, with more performances, puppets and more.

 

If you haven't made your quotient of "Waldo" sightings in downtown stores yet, here are some more reasons to grab the kids and come on downtown to do it all and have a great time.

continues its summer music series on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m with Steve Koehler, aka, Mr. Horsefeathers, who mixes magic, juggling and funny patter to great effect. There is no admission price, but a donation of a new book to Reading Partnersis encouraged. There's a display in the store.

And, of course, the hunt for the cardboard Waldos placed strategically around downtown stores continues. You may see him relaxing around town, as he was recently spotted at Peet's enjoying a coffee with the cycling set.

If the Thursday night farmers market downtown weren't kid-friendly enough for you, this week they celebrate "Kids' Day" 4 to 8 p.m. There will be a performance by singer-songwriter-puppeteer-would-be-acrobat Andy Z. He is scheduled to perform and 5 and 6 p.m, sponsored by PLAY!

Kids will also be encouraged to taste a variety of peaches, which are coming on the market now and partipate in edible crafts-making. 

There will be a Kids Farm Stand and a Pumpkin Pitch game. The pi˜nata makes a popular return, as well.

On the market now is sweet corn from Hollister, strawberries from Watsonville and peaches, nectarines, pluots and apricots from a variety of locations, said Executive Director Barbara Ambler-Thomas, of the farmers market.
