Los Altos School Makes U.S. News Rankings 2016 Best High Schools

Los Altos High made the list for Top Schools in California.

LOS ALTOS - Los Altos High is ranked the 52nd best high school in California by the prestigious US News and World Reports 2016 rankings, and ranked 339th nationally.

The school was singled out because "Students have the opportunity to take Advanced Placement coursework and exams. The AP participation rate at Los Altos High is 69 percent. The student body makeup is 51 percent male and 49 percent female, and the total minority enrollment is 53 percent. Los Altos High is 1 of 3 high schools in the Mountain View-Los Altos Union High."

The other two high schools in the Mountain View-Los Altos Union High School district, Alta Vista High and Mountain View High, were not rated.

"The U.S. News rankings include data on more than 21,000 public high schools in 50 states and the District of Columbia," states U.S. News & World Report. "Schools were awarded gold, silver or bronze medals based on their performance on state assessments, their graduation rates and how well they prepare students for college."

The report includes information about curriculum, test scores and student demographics.
