Unsolicited advice for the day: Lock your doors, really, because people sneak into your backyard looking for those unlocked doors. And, husbands, even when you sneak a peek at your wife's cell phone at 4 a.m., it can be hazardous to your health.

Municipal Code Call

  • 7:32 a.m., Sept. 7, Dixon Way and W. Portola Avenue; report of subject taking recycling, officer responded and was unable to locate
  • 9:18 a.m., Sept. 8, 4666 El Camino Real; report of municipal code violation, officer responded  
  • 10:48 a.m., Sept. 9, 1575 Holt Avenue, Grant Park,  report of dogs off leash, unfounded

Gas Leaf Blower

  • 9:18 a.m., 2000 block of El Sereno Avenue; use of gas-powered leaf blower, not in use when officer arrived

Traffic Collision

  • 10:47 a.m., Sept. 7, 1200 block of Windimer Drive, accident, no injuries, officer assisted with names exchange
  • 12:59 p.m., 800 block of Madonna Way; report of hit and run accident, no injuries, officer assisted.
  • 3:43 p.m., El Camino Real and Showers Drive; accident, no injuries, non-injury accident report taken
  • 6:20 p.m., El Camino Real and Rengstorff Avenue; non-injury accident, report taken
  • 11:56 p.m., Sept. 8, Deodara Drive and Vineyard Drive, accident, hit- and-run accident, passenger had minor injuries. Arrested was Christian Chavez, 18, of Mountain View, for felony hit-and-run. 
  • 8:59 p.m., Magdalena Avenue and Foothill Expressway; non-injury accident, names exchange only, assistance rendered

Suspicious Circumstances / Vehicle

  • 11:46 a.m., Sept. 7, 500 block of University Avenue; suspicious circumstances, officer responded and was unable to locate
  • 8:22 p.m., 1600 block of Parkhills Avenue; report of a suspicious package police responded, information only. A large suitcase was against the building. Homeowner and police surmised it could belong to the previous tenant.
  • 7:55 a.m., Sept. 8, 1500 block of Truman Avenue; suspicious vehicle, officers responded and made contact
  • 11:29 p.m., 911, 1400 block of  Cedar Place; report of suspicious subjects, information
  • 7:02 p.m., Sept. 9, 900 block of Mercedes Avenue; suspicious circumstances, open gate, officers responded, gate secured, information only
  • 11:13 p.m., 2400 block of Foothill Boulevard; suspicious vehicle, officers responded, gone on arrival

Malicious Mischief

  • 12:45 p.m., Sept. 7, 700 block of Los Altos Avenue; vandalism report taken

Trespass

  • 1:06 p.m., Sept. 7, 4546 El Camino Real; report of subject trespassing, officer made contact and subject moved

Burglary

  • 3:18 p.m., Sept. 7, 500 block of Torwood Drive; residential burglary, cold, burglary report taken. The resident discovered an iPad missing, but there was no obvious entry made to the home and the alarm was still activated.
  • 9:12 p.m., 911, 1900 block of Kay Drive; cold-reported burglary, police responded, report taken. The burglar apparently entered  through an unlocked rear sliding door and took jewelry and electronics of unconfirmed value.

Theft

  • 4:08 p.m., Sept. 7, 800 block of Covington Road; petty theft of small bag, containing a small amount of money, from vehicle, cold , no report at this time.
  • 6:32 p.m., 201 Almond Avenue; report of unlocked bicycle stolen, information
  • 10:16 a.m., Sept. 8, 00 block of Cypress Court; petty theft of four packages taken off the front porch, cold report, officer assisted, no report at this time

Noise

  • 10:26 p.m., Sept. 7, 1300 block of McKenzie Avenue; noise complaint, police responded, gone on arrival
  • 12:28 a.m., Sept. 8, 200 block of Solana Drive; noise complaint, police responded, information
  • 7:22 p.m., Sept. 8, 100 block of Yerba Santa Avenue; noisy animal, barking dog complaint, police responded, violation notice left
  • 11:19 p.m., 2300 block of Deodara Drive; noise complaint, police responded, reprimand and released
  • 11:53 p.m., Medford Drive and Havenhurst Drive; noise complaint, police responded, quiet on arrival, quiet on departure
  • 11:55 p.m., 400 block of University Avenue; police responded, quiet on arrival, quiet on departure
  • 2 a.m., 1800 block of Alford Avenue; noise complaint, information
  • 12:38 p.m., 1500 block of Landell Court; cleared, reprimanded and released
  • 7:54 p.m., 700 block of University Avenue; noise complaint, officers responded, referred to code enforcement, no violation

Domestic Violence

  • 4:07 a.m. 911, Sept. 8, 100 block of Giffin Avenue; A wife became angry that her husband was looking at her cell phone; she struck him, causing minor injuries, Los Alto police Sgt Cameron Shearer said. Arrested was Edaena Cano, 32. A report was taken.

 Fraud

  • 10:37 a.m., Sept. 8, 700 block of Jordan Avenue; fraud, cold report of charges made on victim's credit card number for $547 in Kansas, fraud report taken

Driving Under the Influence

  • 10:44 p.m., Sept., 8, Hillview Avenue and San Antonio Road; driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol; Police made a citation arrest of Harry McKinney, 67, of Los Altos 

Illegal Dumping

  • 10:12 a.m., Sept. 9, Arboretum Drive and Farm Road; illegal dumping, referred to public works for cleanup

Warrant Service

  • 11:32 p.m., El Camino Real and Los Altos Avenue; subject issued misdemeanor citation for a warrant
