3 East Bay Men Arrested After Robberies Tageting AAPI Victims
Investigators allege the three men are linked to more than a dozen robberies and "countless" vehicle burgalries around the region.
SAN JOSE, CA — Three East Bay men have been arrested in connection with recent robberies targeting the Asian American-Pacific Islander community throughout the Bay Area, San Jose police said Monday.
The trio, suspected in a string of armed and strong-arm robberies from December to February, were identified as 26-year-old Joel Contreras Barron of Antioch, 28-year-old Francisco Rincon of Richmond, and 26-year-old Juan Rodriguez-Ramirez of Richmond.
Investigators say the men are connected to 13 robberies, five grand thefts, and countless vehicle burglaries around the region.

San Jose detectives, working with police in San Pablo Santa Clara and Stockton, identified the suspects and obtained warrants for their arrest, in addition to search warrants for their homes.
On Feb. 25, Rodriguez-Ramirez was arrested by Stockton Police for robbery and remains in custody.
On April 14, 2023, a string of vehicle burglaries happened at the Grand Century Mall and San Jose police located a car associated with a suspect. Contreras Barron was taken into custody in connection with the vehicle burglaries and his outstanding arrest warrant.

On April 26, San Jose police's covert response unit located and arrested Rincon in Richmond.
The suspects were booked at Santa Clara County Main Jail and San Joaquin County Jail on suspicion of multiple felony crimes.
