Car Catches Fire On Freeway Connector Ramp

SANTA CLARA VALLEY, CA — The connecting ramp from southbound state Highway 87 to northbound
state Highway 85 was briefly shut down early Friday because responders had to put out a car fire on the right shoulder, according to the CHP.

The fire was reported at 1:44 a.m. Friday on the side of the connector, and both the San Jose Fire Department and CHP were dispatched to the scene.

The fire was put out minutes after CHP arrived, according to the agency.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the blaze had yet to be determined.
