Los Gatos To Host Annual Charlie Wedemeyer All-Star Football Game
The game, which pits North County schools against South County schools, started in 1984 and has featured future NFL players.
LOS GATOS, CA — The annual Charlie Wedemeyer All-Star Football Game, which features players from high schools around Santa Clara County, will take place at Los Gatos High School on Saturday.
Wedemeyer, who died in 2010, was a former Los Gatos High School teacher football coach who continued to teach and coach after being diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) in 1978.
The game, which pits North County schools against South County schools, has been played every year since 1984. It has featured future NFL players like Trent Edwards, Jeff Garcia, Pat Tillman, John Tuggle and Doug Cosbie. Forty-five players from 46 high schools will be chosen to participate.
