Los Gatos Man Arrested On Suspicion Of Stealing U-Haul Van: Video

VACAVILLE, CA — A Los Gatos man was arrested Saturday on suspicion of stealing a U-Haul van and leading officers on a pursuit in Vacaville.

Jacob Mahoney, 26, was also found to be in possession of a loaded firearm and methamphetamine, according to the Vacaville Police Department. When officers attempted to stop Mahoney around 10:30 a.m. Saturday, he fled on westbound Interstate 80, police said.

With the help of a California Highway Patrol helicopter, Vacaville officers again located Mahoney’s vehicle in the Whispering Hills neighborhood a half hour later. After a brief pursuit and deployment of spike strips, Mahoney crashed into a ditch, police said.

The end of the pursuit was captured on camera from the helicopter.

Mahoney faces a “variety of traffic and weapons-related charges” and was booked into the Solano County Jail, according to police.
