Man Drowns In Vasona Lake In Los Gatos: Santa Clara County Fire
Santa Clara County Fire responded to a report of a possible drowning at 12:36 p.m. Monday. The sheriff's dive team recovered the body.

LOS GATOS, CA -- A 57-year-old man drowned in Vasona Lake Monday afternoon, sending the Santa Clara County Sheriff's dive team out to recover the body.
The call came in at 12:36 p.m. from a witness who claimed the man went into the reservoir on the northeast side near the Los Gatos Creek Trail and "failed to surface," Santa Clara County Fire Department spokesman Bill Murphy told Patch.
At first glance, a crew was unable to find the victim until the dive team went in. The body was located and pulled out almost an hour later. Lifesaving efforts were administered to no avail. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

His identity is undisclosed until the next of kin has been notified.
Murphy said there was no debris and no unusual variation of the water level.

Vasona Lake represents a cluster of reservoirs managed by Santa Clara Valley Water District, which maintains it at a "fairly constant" level according to Murphy and district spokesman Matt Keller.
