Man Severely Injured In Vehicle-Vs-Tree Crash On Hwy 9: SCC Fire

The man sustained life-threatening injuries when his car hit a tree, forcing rescue crews to send him to a trauma center via helicopter.

LOS GATOS, CA — A man was transported via Cal Star air ambulance to a trauma center late Tuesday night with life-threatening injuries when his vehicle hit a tree on State Route 9 between Los Gatos and Saratoga, the Santa Clara County Fire Department reported.

The solo-vehicle crash that occurred at 10:56 p.m. just west of Redwood Gulch Road involved a one-hour extrication by firefighters using hydraulic rescue tools among 17 personnel on the scene, the fire agency added.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the crash, which also involved Cal Fire.
