Netflix To Cover Abortion Travel Costs For Employees

The company confirmed the policy Friday after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, ending 50 years of federal abortion access.

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA — Los Gatos-based Netflix will reimburse any full-time employees based in the United States who need to travel for abortions.

The company confirmed the policy Friday after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, ending 50 years of federal abortion access.

Employees and their dependents have a $10,000 lifetime allowance to travel for each healthcare service. Those services include cancer treatments, transplants, gender affirming care and abortion, a spokesperson told Variety.

Netflix joined other major media companies such as Disney, Paramount, Comcast, Warner Bros., Discovery, Sony and Meta in covering such travel costs.

The 6-3 ruling rolls back federal protections of abortion rights, allowing states to initiate bans on abortions. But officials in states like California have pledged to maintain and expand abortion access, including welcoming people from out-of-state who must now travel to receive healthcare.
