Owner Returns, Female Burglar Flees Los Gatos Home

A female burglary suspect fled when a Los Gatos homeowner confronted her. She was arrested by police in shrubbery nearby.

LOS GATOS - A Los Gatos woman was arrested for burglary Saturday night after she broke into a home on Lark Avenue, then fled when the homeowner returned.

Los Gatos Monte Sereno Police allege on Saturday night, April 2, a homeowner confronted a female burglar who had broken into their Lark Avenue residence. Police believe the burglar had gained access to the home by using a ladder to go through an upstairs window.

Police say the female suspect - later identified as 30-year-old Los Gatos resident Samantha Vetter - fled on foot when the homeowner called 911 at 6:25 p.m.

Five minutes later, at 6:30 p.m., police say responding officers using two K9 dogs found Vetter as she emerged from shrubbery along Lark Ave. and state Highway 17.

Vetter was positively identified by witnesses as being responsible for the interrupted burglary, according to authorities.

Samantha Vetter was arrested and charged with Burglary; Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance; and an outstanding warrant. She was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail.

Police say Los Gatos Monte Sereno Police Detectives will be conducting additional investigation in an attempt to determine if Vetter is related to any other ongoing investigations.
