Remains Of Missing San Jose Man Found In Santa Cruz Mountains
The body of Kyle Myrick, who was allegedly murdered in San Jose by coworker Steve Hlebo of Los Altos, is found near Jameson Creek Road.
BOULDER CREEK - Detectives found the body of Kyle Myrick, who was allegedly murdered in San Jose by coworker Steve Hlebo, in unincorporated Santa Cruz County late Thursday afternoon, according to San Jose police.
Myrick’s remains were found in the vicinity of Jameson Creek Road around 4 p.m. Investigators were following up on a tip received earlier today.

The Santa Clara County medical examiner’s office was called to the scene and they were able to identify the victim as Myrick, police said.
Myrick, 28, went missing under suspicious circumstances while on the job at a powersports store in San Jose last week. Officers were dispatched to GP Sports, located at 2020 Camden Ave. around 6:20 p.m. Friday, police said.

Investigators allegedly found a human ear, a pool of blood and signs that a body had been dragged to an area where Hlebo had parked his truck earlier in the day. Hlebo was arrested at his home just after 2 a.m. Saturday morning.

During a subsequent search, they allegedly found blood in the cab of Hlebo’s truck, police said.
Hlebo, 39, was arraigned in Santa Clara County Superior Court on Wednesday.
The volunteer effort to find Myrick had received a significant financial boost earlier Thursday when organizers turned to gofundme.com and raised much of the $5,000 stated goal.
As of 5:00 a.m. Pacific time on Friday, the website had accumulated $2,970.
Comments from donors to the site poured in:
- “My prayers go out to all family and friends,” from a man giving $75.
- “My heartfelt prayers to the family and I pray that Kyle will be found,” from a woman donating $20.
- “Sending prayers along with this donation that you will find answers and peace,” from a couple offering $250.
GoFundMe organizers say the money will go to the parents of Kyle Myrick.
