SCC Reaches Tentative Deal To Buy Regional Medical Center
The county expects to finalize a deal to purchase the Level II trauma center from HCA Healthcare early next year.
SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA — Santa Clara County has reached a tentative agreement to buy Regional Medical Center from HCA Healthcare, with plans to roll the trauma center into the county-operated Santa Clara Valley Healthcare system.
The county announced the agreement Wednesday, noting RMC's history of being East San Jose's main emergency healthcare provider. County leaders also highlighted the benefits of streamlining its healthcare operations and building on significant investments in the medical center over the last decade.
"Making Regional Medical Center part of Santa Clara Valley Healthcare's network of hospitals and clinics will ensure that East San Jose and the surrounding community continue to have access to top-notch Level II trauma, comprehensive stroke, specialized heart attack, and ultimately, labor and delivery care," said County Executive James R. Williams. "In addition, the county will not have to make significant investments to expand staffing and facilities at our other hospitals, which would otherwise be required, by building on HCA Healthcare's facility investments and operations at Regional Medical Center."
