SJ City, Evergreen Colleges Suspend In-Person Classes

Classes will resume on Monday, March 16, in online or other distance learning formats through at least April 6

SANTA CLARA COUNTY — In-person classes at San Jose City College and Evergreen Valley College in San Jose are being suspended through at least Friday due to concerns over the novel coronavirus, the San Jose-Evergreen Community College District announced Tuesday.

Other colleges and schools in the Bay Area have taken similar measures, including San Jose State University, Stanford University and University of California at Berkeley, in response to the threat of the virus, also referred to as COVID-19.

The two schools in the San Jose-Evergreen Community College District will have classes resume next Monday in online or other distance learning formats through at least April 6.

No students or staff have had reported cases of COVID-19 in the district, but the move is being made anyways "out of an abundance of caution," the district said.

Both campuses will remain open and other student services will continue as normal, according to the district.
