Teen Driver Accused In Crash That Killed Woman, Newborn In San Jose
Police allege a 15-year-old boy was driving a stolen car when he ran a red light and hit another car, killing a young pregnant woman.

SAN JOSE, CA — Investigators in San Jose have arrested a 15-year-old boy who authorities allege was driving a stolen Hyundai when he crashed into a Nissan, resulting in the deaths of a pregnant young mother and a newborn child, authorities announced Monday.
Police said the Hyunhai was headed south on Winfield Boulevard against a solid red light when it collided with the Nissan heading east on Blossom Hill Road. The woman driving the Nissan was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and later pronounced dead. Surgeons were able to deliver the newborn, but officials said the infant had critical injuries and died the next day.
The woman who died was identified as April Marie Zoglauer, 21, described by friends as a beloved preschool teacher.

According to police, the two people in the Hyundai fled the crash on foot, and investigators learned the vehicle was stolen but had yet to be reported. Traffic investigators identified a young suspect in the case and on Saturday arrested him in San Jose. Officials said the unidentified boy was booked into Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall on suspicion of various crimes.
The deaths of the mother and infant were San Jose's 43rd and 44th linked to traffic incidents this year.
