Three Deaths Ruled Murder-Suicide By San Jose Police

Police officers responded to a report of a suicide on Dent Avenue and came upon the bodies of an adult female and two children - her sons.

SAN JOSE, CA -- Based on a preliminary investigation, detectives are classifying deaths on Dent Avenue reported on Wednesday to be a murder-suicide case, San Jose Police announced.

Detectives determined the adult female killed her 4- and 7-year-old sons, identified as Chuck and Eric Nguyen, respectively, before committing suicide, the department added.

The Santa Clara Coroner’s Office determined the case as a double murder-suicide committed by the mother identified as 43-year-old Uyen Thi Phuong Tran

This is the city’s eighth and ninth homicide of 2019.

At 12:27 p.m., San Jose police officers responded to a report of a suicide in the 5300 block of Dent Avenue in south San Jose. Arriving officers located the bodies of an adult female and two young children inside an apartment.
