BENJAMIN ZANDER AT LOS GATOS HIGH SCHOOL
The Parenting Continuum presents a free lecture featuring renowned conductor Benjamin Zander at 7 p.m. tonight Monday, Oct. 7 in the Los Gatos High School auditorium. Zander will speak about how to keep the avenues of communication open and flowing, speak about the language of the heart and possibilities in every aspect of our lives. Zander conducts the Boston Philarmonic and uses the metaphor of the orchestra and a lifetime of experience conducting, coaching and teaching musicians to work his magic to overcome barriers. SUICIDE PREVENTION EXHIBIT AT WEST VALLEY COLLEGE
West Valley College presents the popular "Send Silence Packing" exhibit Tuesday, Oct. 8 featuring 1,100 backpacks to represent young people who resort to suicide each year at the college's Viking Grove and Kirkorian Pavilion. The college is one of 11 campuses statewide that are hosting the exhibit, with the help of its Active Minds club. Details: Health Services, 408-741-2027.
JOSHUA SAFRAN TALK ON DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
Joshua Safran, attorney from the award-winning film Crime After Crime, (Sundance Film Festival, OWN) and author of the new memoir Free Spirit: Growing Up On the Road and Off the Grid (Hachette Book Group)
will speak at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9 at Congregation Shir Hadash, 20 Cherry Blossom Lane in Los Gatos. Safran is a nationally-recognized advocate for survivors of domestic violence.
