1. Adame leads Arballo entries (maderatribune.com) — Madera South just hosted the rapidly growing Robert Arballo Invitational wrestling tournament, drawing more than 50 teams from across the state. Matilda Torres standout Angelo Adame led the three Madera schools with a third-place finish, showing local wrestlers can still shine against some of California’s toughest competition.

2. Madera County Economic Forecast: Gaming, housing, retail in the pipeline (thebusinessjournal.com) — Major housing, retail, and job-creating projects are reshaping Madera County’s economy, from the reopened Madera Community Hospital to massive new neighborhoods and commercial centers in the city of Madera. Local leaders say strong population growth, tight industrial space, and new casino and retail developments should keep jobs and business opportunities expanding into 2026, even amid broader economic uncertainty.
   

3. Madera Police Arrest Two Suspects in Armed Robbery Case (gvwire.com) — Madera police arrested two 21-year-old men in connection with a November 8 armed robbery at Rancho San Miguel in which a victim was shot. Officers say surveillance footage and other evidence led them to a city residence, where they recovered a handgun, cash, and other items tied to the crime before booking both suspects into Madera County Jail on multiple felony charges.
   

4. SBA Offers Disaster Assistance to California Businesses, Private Nonprofits and Residents Affected by the Pack Fire (sba.gov) — Madera County residents and business owners can now apply for low-interest SBA disaster loans after the Pack Fire, which affected several California counties. Assistance is available for damaged homes, personal property, and businesses, plus economic injury loans for lost revenue. Applications are open through early 2026, with help available online, by phone, or at an outreach center in Mono County.
   

5. Yosemite Sugar Pine Railroad unveils Holiday Magic Train (yourcentralvalley.com) — A beloved Madera County attraction, the Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad, is running a new Holiday Magic Train through January 4, offering nighttime rides with lights, music, and hot cocoa. Riders travel historic logging tracks in the Sierra National Forest while learning about the region’s past, with multiple nightly departures, a museum, and even dog-friendly policies making it a festive local outing.
