Beach Access Still An Issue in Malibu

Los Angeles Times columnist Steve Lopez found that many access points are inaccessible

MALIBU, CA — A drive down Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu and you'll some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Trying to get down to the beach is, however, is another matter.

As Los Angeles Times columnist Steve Lopez found out, around 20 locations where you can't get access to the beach because there's no entry ways or they're blocked.

The issue that Lopez discovered is the lack of money to build and maintain stairs and or trails. And also, a lack of will from city officials to enforce the law and wealthy homeowners actively blocking access.

Under the law, beaches in California belongs to the public and the public is supposed to have access to them.
