Billionaire Breaks California Record With $177M Home In Malibu
Venture capitalist Marc Andreessen just broke Jeff Bezos' record for the most expensive house purchase in California.

MALIBU, CA — Venture capitalist Marc Andreessen just topped California records with his $177 million purchase of a Malibu mansion.
It's the most anyone has ever paid for a house in California; Amazon founder Jeff Bezos previously held the record with a $165 million mansion in Beverly Hills.
The house nearly broke national records, becoming the second most expensive house sale in American history — topped only by $238 million condo in New York, according to Dirt.

Andreessen, who built his fortune in the tech industry in Silicon Valley, bought the seven-acre home in an off-market deal this week. The house sits above Paradise Cove and includes multiple structures centered by a 10,000 square foot main house, the Wall Street Journal reported.
The complex has two guest houses, two barns and a stand-alone movie theater, Dirt reported. The seller, Serge Azria, allegedly shopped the house around for $250 million.

This is the third year in a row the record has been broken, the Los Angeles Times reported. Lachlan Murdoch, son of Fox-creator Rupert Murdoch, broke the record before Bezos with his $150 million purchase of the "Beverly Hillbillies" mansion.
