Causes for Malibu Power Outage Still Unknown

Power was restored to all except 23 customers by 7 a.m. Monday.

MALIBU, CA — Southern California Edison still doesn't know what caused the two power outages in Malibu that left thousands in the dark this weekend.

The first outage was reported at around 7:10 p.m. Sunday and affected 2,100 customers. The outage was blamed on equipment problem, according to the utility. The second outage happened at around 3:10 a.m. Monday and 971 customers lost power. No cause has been found for that outage, SCE said.

Power was restored to all except 23 customers by 7 a.m. Monday. Those customers were expected to have power returned later Monday morning.
