City Applies for Three-Hour Parking Limit on Cross Creek Road

The restrictions are meant to free up parking for shoppers in the Civic Center area of Malibu.

Three-hour parking is in the works for Cross Creek Road in Malibu.

The city of Malibu is applying for a Coastal Development Permit to put three-hour parking restrictions on Cross Creek Road between Pacific Coast Highway and Civic Center Way, according to a notice posted on the roadway.

The three-hour limit, which would be under a year-long evaluation process, would be in place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, the notice states.

The restrictions would impact 29 stalls on Cross Creek Road between Pacific Coast Highway and Civic Center Way, according to the city of Malibu. The cost of installing 10, two-hour parking signs will be $2,500.

Malibu's Public Works Director Robert Brager said previously the city first began to consider the option of limiting parking because many of the spaces are occupied by employees of local businesses and visitors.

"With minimal parking turnover, patrons of the Civic Center area businesses are hindered from using prime on-street parking," Brager said.
