City Hopes to Allow for Online Payment of Fees on Redesigned Website

The City of Malibu put out a request for proposals this week as part of an effort to upgrade its website.

The City of Malibu plans to integrate newer technology, such as the online payment of fees into the redesign of its website, according to city documents.

A request for proposals was put out this week asking web design groups to submit design plans for an upgraded website. The last upgrade was in 2009.

"The city is seeking a new design that is an aesthetically-pleasing, resourceful information platform that utilizes current technology and is easy to navigate by both the community and visitors," according to Olivia Damavandi, Malibu's media information officer.

According to city documents, the current website allows the posting of meeting and event calendars, documentation related to the City Council, city departments, city laws and policies, and other general information. The website also provides access to online registration for recreational activities and links to view live or archived City Council and Planning Commission meeting footage.

The new website would allow for city fees to be paid online. The city also wants to be able to upload photos, videos and audio, as well as be able to stream the City’s Government Access television channel from a live feed or archived video.
