Donations Needed for Spring Baskets for Safety Harbor Kids

Donations are needed for spring baskets for 65 disadvantaged children for a special celebration by Safety Harbor Kids this weekend in Malibu.

The seventh annual Etiquette and Manners Brunch is set for Sunday, March 17 at Duke's in Malibu, according to organizers.

“These children deserve the best – they have had a hard life," Miss Malibu, Brittney McCowen said. "It’s so great to be part of a solution like Safety Harbor Kids helping them to a happy life through education.”

The cost of sponsoring a basket is $25. More than 20 baskets are still needed for the event, which will feature live music, an Easter Egg hunt, speakers, art lessons, tool safety class and jewelry making.

The baskets will include goodies and school supplies for the children, many of whom have never had an Easter basket or been on an egg hunt.

“It takes a lot of good hearted people to have an event like this," SHK President Petrie Alexandra Williams said. "We are raising meals and baskets for the kids on our website and throughout the community. We invite all of Malibu to this great party for a great cause.”

Malibu residents and businesses supporting needy children in the area include the Malibu Rotary and Kiwanis Clubs, Duke’s Malibu, The Chocolat Box, Maggie Lukerath, Gina McCloskey, Sara Levy and Astrid Hertz.
