Escondido Falls Featured Among SoCal's Best Waterfalls

Escondido Falls in Malibu was featured this week in a guide of the best waterfalls in Southern California.

The falls, at 150 feet, are the highest in the Santa Monica Mountains.

CBS Los Angeles featured the 4.2 mile round trip hike on Winding Way in its "Guide to Waterfalls in Southern California."

"The walk begins along a paved road for the first mile, with views of gorgeous homes and the sparkling Pacific Ocean, before hikers reach the official trailhead," the TV station reported. "At the Escondido Canyon Trailhead, follow the trail upstream, as it crosses the creek and grassy fields along the way."

The growing popularity of Escondido Falls has drawn the ire of neighbors, who been vocal in the impacts to parking and noise in the area.
