The of the city of Malibu will conduct a third community meeting to discuss the potential to have various street right-of-way encroachments along Busch Drive removed or relocated in order to allow enhanced use of the street for pedestrian, equestrian or other related purposes.

The meeting is to establish an open dialogue with the neighborhood residents to assist the city in determining the support level and potential schedule for the encroachment removals. Encroachment removals could affect such items as landscaping, irrigation, walls and fences that are located between the existing paved roadway and property owner boundaries.

Busch Drive is a two-lane public residential roadway that extends approximately one mile from Pacific Coast Highway to the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area in the city of Malibu. The public roadway easement is approximately 60 feet wide and the roadway pavement width varies from 24 to 26 feet. Over the years, encroachment into the public easement by adjoining property owners has caused increased public concern for vehicular and pedestrian safety along Busch Drive.

On May 9, 2011, the directed staff to create an improved preliminary design showing what it may look like when existing encroachments are removed along Busch Drive and then conduct a neighborhood community meeting to discuss this improved preliminary design to determine potential neighborhood concerns and support levels for the design.
