The third annual golf tournament fundraiser will help bridge the budget gaps left by the growing deficits in the California state budget. The golf outing at  was initially a way to provide another fun activity for the school while raising funds for important programs, but is now an essential facet of the schools ability to meet its annual budget.

"Peter Hernandez and I started this two years ago as a fun way for the Dads to contribute to the fundraising efforts for the school,"said Brian Pinkett chairman of this year's golf outing and one of the founders of the event said. "Now it has become a necessity!”

School principal Chi Kim added, "It has been  wonderful to see the PDMSS dads leading this great day of golf, camaraderie and fun to benefit the children of Point Dume Marine Science School."

This year's fundraiser will feature several new elements, including a chance to win a new BMW with a hole in one on one of the course's par-three holes. In addition, a team of culinary experts led by Christina Ficeto and Ceci Loftus of Malibu Party Services will be providing a gourmet dinner for the participants, their families and any other guests who wish to partake in the festivities. There will be a wine tasting showcasing our local Malibu wineries and live and silent auctions featuring several rare collectibles, hard to get tickets and unique once-in-a-lifetime experiences.

Kamp Indy, run by former Point Dume Elementary physical education specialist Evan Moore, will be on hand to make sure that any children who want to participate are able to do so through fun activities staged in areas off the golf course. The event will end with the family all-star karaoke jam.

While the event is expected to sell out again, the bulk of the funds raised are generated by activities off the golf course and not by the player fees. Accordingly, there are several ways for companies and individuals to help contribute. A full range of sponsorship packages, individual player, and dinner options are available and can be purchased through our new website: www.pdmssptagolf.com.

There are also opportunities for local businesses and individuals to participate without actually being present. Event sponsorship opportunities include sponsoring individual holes, golf skills contest (such as longest drive, closest to the pin, straightest drive) and signage.
