Students Speak About Service Project

The following is an edited press release from the :

Malibu United Methodist and churches recently sent 20 high school students from their combined youth group on an outreach trip with the Sierra Service Project to the Susanville Rancheria in Northern California. The site is populated by descendants of Maidu, Pit River, Paiute and Washoe Native Americans.

Students earned 40 hours of community service while painting houses, cleaning city streets and building wheelchair ramps. They also had lots of fun meeting other youth from churches in Palos Verdes and San Luis Obispo.  The youth hiked in the hills, swam in mountain lakes and shared cool evenings while building friendships.
