Expect Road Closures For Malibu Triathlon
Competitors will race through Malibu Saturday and Sunday, causing some road closures and slowdowns.

MALIBU, CA — As runners from across the region prepare to put their stamina to the test, the city prepares for a number of road closures related to the 2XU Malibu Triathlon.
The triathlon will prompt a number of road closures and potential delays. The bicycle portion fo the race will use the outer lanes on Pacific Coast Highway from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. This means both directions will be reduced to one lane from Deer Creek Road and Busch Drive.
The bicyclists are likely to slow down traffic, the triathlon warned.

Driveways lining PCH will closed during the mornings of the event. Access to the Zuma Canyon neighborhood will be detoured to Bonsail Drive to PCH. Detour signs will be up to lead drivers.

The annual triathlon includes a longer olympic distance race and a classic distance race. Both include a biking, swimming and running portion.
The Olympic distance relay and solo races will kick off at 7 a.m Saturday, with the "Classic Distance" races following at 7 a.m. Sunday. The Olympic race includes a 1.5 kilometer swim, a 40 kilometer bike ride and a 10 kilometer run. The "Classic Distance" includes a 0.5 mile swim, 17 mile bike ride and a four mile run.
This year's event has already raised $850,583 of its $1,100,000 goal, according to the triathlon's website. To date, the race has raised $16 million for Children's Hospital Los Angeles, according to a Super League Triathlon representative.
