Fake 'Official Sanctuary State' Signs Pop Up All Over California

Fake signs are being hung up near "welcome" signs throughout California. One sign reads "felons, illegals and MS-13 welcome!"

CALIFORNIA -- Mocking the state's progressive values, fake signs stating "Official Sanctuary State" are popping up all over California. One sign that was shared in a Twitter photo read "felons, illegals and MS-13 welcome!"

The fake signs were first seen as drivers entered Malibu, a beach-side town in the county of Los Angeles. The sign read "Cheap nannies and gardeners make Malibu great!" A Malibu councilwoman told the Los Angeles Times she felt it was "disheartening that anyone would put up such an ugly sign.”

The newest signs currently on Highway 95 as people drive into California from Nevada and Arizona, the DailyMail reported.

California is largely seen as a progressive state with former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton beating now-President Donald Trump by 4.2 million votes in 2016. Since Trump's presidency, state lawmakers have taken steps against the Republican Party's agenda, including signing a law officially declaring California a "sanctuary state."

The law prohibits "who state and local law enforcement agencies can hold, question and transfer at the request of federal immigration authorities," the Times reported.
