Fall Back: Daylight Saving Time Ends Sunday
Daylight Saving Time ends Sunday, Nov. 4 at 2 a.m. and Malibu residents are encouraged to replace the batteries in their smoke alarms.

It's that time of the year again when clocks move back one hour for the end of Daylight Saving Time (DST).
DST is observed in California, which means the hour hands in Malibu "fall back" one hour this Sunday, Nov. 4 at 2 a.m., to 1 a.m., local time.
Daylight Saving first began in the U.S. in 1918, and is thought to promote energy conservation.

The end of Daylight Saving usually occurs on the first Sunday in November.
The resumption of Daylight Saving Time will occur on the second Sunday of March, which in 2013 will be March 10.
