MALIBU, CA — Falling and unstable rocks closed the northbound state Route 23, Decker Road in Malibu Wednesday.

Northbound Decker Road was completely closed between Pacific Coast (1) Highway and Decker Edison Road, according to Caltrans. It was not immediately clear when the road would reopen.

Drivers were encouraged to use Encinal Canyon Road as a detour.

Climbers on ropes will use hand tools to secure the area, according to Caltrans.
