FAMILY BEST BETS OF THE WEEK

Where/When: , 24250 Pacific Coast Highway; Friday at about 4:30 p.m. (movie begins at 5:30 p.m.)

Why Go: It is an opportunity for the family to learn about traffic safety and catch a great movie, Sixteen Candles.

Pricing: Free with a $5 suggested donation

Where/When: in Agoura Hills; Saturday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Why Go: Soak up some local history and watch the children engage in interactive exhibits. Docent tours and children's activities make this an ideal and educational way to spend your Saturday afternoon.

Pricing: Donations are encouraged in the following increments: $3 for adults, $2 for seniors, $1 for children ages 5 to 12 and little ones under 5 can come for free.

 • Community Potluck

Where/When: Bluffs Park, 24250 Pacific Coast Highway; Saturday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Why Go: This is a community pot luck gathering in honor of Howard Spanier, former owner of Mail Boxes Etc., to thank him for 25 years of business services and community support.

Pricing: Free; bring something to share and donations are accepted

 • Kid’s Corner

Where/When: , 3939 Cross Creek Road; Saturday and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Why Go: The nonprofit Habana Works presents hands-on projects and games to teach children about the planet and the environment.

Pricing: Free

Where/When: , 30128 Morning View Drive; Sunday from 3 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Why Go: Children ages 4 and up get watched by youth group members with adult supervision while parents and/or guardians get some time off to have some alone time. Pizza, drinks (everybody should bring a side dish to share), movies, games and crafts are included.
