Hometown Talents to Be Featured at Malibu Film Festival

The 17th Malibu International Film Festival​ opens Saturday at Malibu's Civic Theater.

MALIBU, CA -- This year's Malibu Film Festival will open and close with works from hometown talents.

The 17th Malibu International Film Festival, which opens Saturday, will open with Malibu filmmaker Chelo Alvarez-Stehle’s documentary “Sands of Silence” and close with a collection of short films from the next generation of Malibu filmmakers and artists.

Some of the short films include “Endings, Inc.” (starring Hopper Penn), “The Ravine” (VFX by Jefferson Wagner), Prettyface” (starring Karsen Liotta and Patrick Schwarzenegger), “Forgiveness” (directed by Satie Gossett), “The Bench” (directed by Cameron Burnett) and “Two Bellmen Two” (starring Freida Pinto).

Film festival screenings start at 11 a.m. and go to 9 p.m. at Malibu’s Civic Theater, 23852 Stuart Ranch Road. A Q-and-A with the filmmakers is including in each screening. The awards presentation is estimated to start at 9 p.m. and the festival wraps up with a cocktail reception.
