The Malibu Colony is a neighborhood first created in 1926 when May Rindge, who personally owned all of Malibu (known as Rancho Malibu), placed lots on this small street up for lease. Although the asking price in those days was nearly $1 per linear foot of beach frontage, the main residents who could afford such luxury were the movie stars.
The name Malibu Beach Motion Picture Colony was the first name given to this famous address. Some of the first Colony residents were Bing Crosby, Ronald Colman, Gary Cooper, Gloria Swanson, Marie Dressler, Warner Baxter, Jackie Coogan and many others. When the land was finally offered up for sale in 1936, celebrities such as Burgess Meredith, Cary Grant, Brian Donlevy and June Lockhart grabbed up homes in this neighborhood only 20 miles from Hollywood.
Vicki Helman with Pritchett Rapf & Associates is the listing agent for this property. “No expenses were spared on this home,” said Helman. “Since completion of this home in 2009; this property has consistently been one of the premier vacation destination properties in the Colony.”
This home is currently listed for sale at $18 million or for lease at $70,000/month. For more information contact Vicki Helman at 310-968-3065 or email vicki7110@gmail.com or visit http://www.67malibucolony.com.
