MALIBU, CA — Malibu has a new interim city manager: Candace Bond, a longtime Malibu resident and former U.S. ambassador.

“This is a labor of love,” Bond said in a statement. “Malibu is home. I raised my children here. I want to use every bit of experience I’ve gained in public life to help this city recover and move forward with resilience, vision, and care.”

Bond's hiring comes after former city manager Steve McClary's departure. He left for vacation in late November and was expected to return in January, but did not return: The city announced the conclusion of his tenure in March, the Malibu Times reported.
