Malibu Names Steve McClary As City Manager

MALIBU, CA — Steve McClary will be the Malibu's first City Manager replacement for Reva Feldman, who resigned last year alleging she had endured harassment.

The city announced McClary's new role on Friday, effective Monday. McClary had served as Interim City Manager since April 2021.

“Malibu is fortunate to have such a well-qualified professional to fulfill this difficult and important role," Mayor Paul Grisanti said in a news release. "Over the last year, Steve has been a pleasure to work with, and has shown his competence, leadership, demeanor and ability to build good relationships with staff, the Council and the community.”

Before joining the Malibu team, McClary served as City Manager for the city of Ojai, California and Assistant City Manager for the city of Camarillo, California.

“Over the past year as interim City Manager, I have developed a great affection for Malibu and its residents, and I look forward to working with the Council, community and staff to fulfill the goals of the City in a dedicated manner,” McClary said in a news release.

McClary will be the first full time replacement for Feldman, who became City Manager in 2016. Feldman announced her resignation in April 2021 claiming she had suffered "personal and professional attacks" from Mayor Pro Tem Bruce Silverstein, according to a letter from Feldman's attorney.

The city in Feb. 2021 released the findings of an independent investigation into Feldman's harassment allegations. An independent investigator found Silverstein's communications with Feldman had been "frequently hostile and unprofessional," but did not find evidence to confirm Feldman's claim that the harassment was gender-based.
