Malibu Ranks Among Priciest Zip Codes In Nation: Report
Los Angeles has some of the most expensive real estate in the U.S., and Malibu ranked among the most costly in the county.

MALIBU, CA — Los Angeles County sits at the top of the list when it comes to the nation's most expensive real estate — and Malibu ranked among the county's priciest zip codes in 2021, according to a new report.
Nationwide, Malibu ranked as the 21st most expensive zip code, with a median home sales price of $3,250,000. Tying with the famed coastal surf town on the national ranking was the city of Los Angeles, recording an identical median home sales price in 2021.
Both Malibu and L.A. have experienced a rapid price growth since 2019, with both medians rising 25 percent in 2020. With its sought-after beaches, the city rose from a $2,500,000 median to a $3,250,000 median in just one year.

This year, Los Angeles County remained the priciest county, with 21 of its zip codes making the list. The county was ranked No. 2, tied with New York, with the highest number of expensive ZIP codes, with six ZIP codes ranked nationally.
On the other side of the state, Atherton in San Mateo County, took the no. 1 spot, according to PropertyShark's Most Expensive U.S. Zip Codes in 2021 report. The city was California's and the nation's most expensive zip code for a fifth consecutive year, recording a $7.5 million median home price.

Real estate prices in the Golden State's zip codes surpassed the $4 million mark for the first time in history, according to the report.
Across the U.S., California accounts for 70 percent of the priciest markets and 37 percent of them are concentrated in the Bay Area — where the list's topper is located.
Los Angeles was outdone by the Bay Area's Santa Clara and San Mateo counties, which both contributed 10 zip codes to the list.
The two counties "form a nearly contiguous supercluster of ultra-expensive zip codes that cover high-profile tech centers such as Menlo Park, Mountain View, Palo Alto, San Jose and Sunnyvale," according to PropertyShark.
