Malibu Road Remains Closed After Rockslide
After over a week shut, a stretch of state Route 73 remained closed Tuesday.

MALIBU, CA — Malibu continued to see closures Tuesday after a rockslide on state Route 73.
The roadway partially closed Tuesday after a rockslide occurred near mile marker 1.5 impacting only the northbound lanes at first. By Friday the entire roadway was closed from Pacific Coast (1) Highway to Encinal Canyon.
Construction to repair the slope above the roadway was expected to last until at least Friday evening, according to CalTrans.

Crews have installed anchors to secure wire mesh along the slope above the roadway, CalTrans said Tuesday. Mesh will be assembled through Thursday while materials set and harden along the slope.
CalTrans posted a video of the construction Tuesday, showing crews walking along the slope and work trucks parked on the roadway.

According to Caltrans, residents with identification will be permitted on the southbound side of the route only, as far as lower Decker Edison Road.
