Malibu Seeks Artists For Second 'Radical Beauty, Malibu Rising'

Artists can submit their original, Woolsey Fire-related art to be included in the second installation of "Radical Beauty, Malibu Rising."

MALIBU, CA — The City of Malibu Cultural Arts Commission is looking for artists to submit their original, Woolsey Fire-related art to be included in the second installation of the City’s public art exhibit "Radical Beauty, Malibu Rising," the City of Malibu announced last week.

The first installation of the exhibit featured photography, paintings, drawing, sculpture, short films and written work. It has been on display in City Hall since May 2019 and will conclude at the end of August, the press release said.

"The arts are an important part of life in Malibu, and artistic expression can have a real healing effect, as we saw from the huge popularity of the first Woolsey Fire art exhibition," said Mayor Jefferson "Zuma Jay" Wagner. "It was very moving to see how the exhibit brought community members together to reflect, heal, and support each other, and I hope everyone can join us for the reception of our second installation."
