Malibu Students Awarded for Art Work

The award-winning art pieces will be on display at Malibu City Hall during the next council meeting on Feb. 11.

Several Malibu students were honored for their artowkr at the Malibu Student Art Show over the weekend.

The show was held Feb. 2-3 at the Michael Landon Center at Malibu Bluffs Park.

Artwork was judged by Malibu Arts Association Co-Presidents Ed Stalcup, Marie Stapel and Maria Bleyberg. Each entry was judged based on grade level and ribbons were awarded to first, secondand third place winners, as well as honorable mentions.

The award-winning art pieces will be on display at Malibu City Hall during the City Council Regular meeting on Feb. 11 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Grades K-2

  • First Place: Kaelin Schetter, 3 Cats
  • Second Place: Nikita Polinger, Shiny Teapot
  • Third Place: Pierce Schetter, Fly

Grades 3-5

  • First place: Chase Schetter, Reversible Rain
  • Second Place: Zoe Nathan, Fun
  • Third Place: Lucy Thrall, Dolphin
  • Honorable Mention: Waylon Barish, Rooster

Grades 6-8

  • First Place: Declan Bates, Zuma Wave
  • Second Place: Ali Rezvan, Untitled
  • Third Place: Mia Ross, Springtime
  • Honorable Mention: Cedric Holloran, Boat on a Lake

Grades 9-12

  • First Place: Emma Gallagher, At the Beach
  • Second Place: Frankie Seely, Dripping Sun
  • Third Place: Molly Gallagher, Vase and Egg Cup
  • Honorable Mention: Nick Anthony, Every Tear Tells a Story
