Malibu to Waive Nearly $1,000 in Fees for Cimorelli Benefit Concert

The concerts—in Malibu and Newbury Park—will raise funds for the family of Ronald Carver, a tow truck driver killed in a crash on Pacific Coast Highway in February.

The Malibu City Council is expected to waive $830 in fees for the singing group Cimorelli for one of two concerts that will benefit the family of a tow truck driver who was killed in a hit-and-run crash.

Katherine Cimorelli, the second oldest of the six sisters in the group, was on the side of Pacific Coast Highway when the tow truck driver, Ronald Carver, 45, of Newbury Park, was struck and killed by a silver Audi, whose driver kept going.

Jill Rose, 44, of Santa Monica is accused of driving under the influence in the Feb. 11 hit and run crash.

All six sisters came to a Malibu City Council meeting in March to ask the city and the Malibu community for help in finding a Malibu venue for the concert.

The cost of the fees for the event is expected to be around $830 and does not include an additional fee of $116 for insurance, according to a city staff report. The Malibu City Council will consider waiving the fees at its April 8 meeting.

The event will feature a concert by Cimorelli, several food trucks and booths with information promoting safe driving and a safer PCH. Attendance for the event is not expected to exceed 1,000 people.

The first concert is set for Friday, April 12 at Lighthouse Church, 3353 Old Conejo Road in Newbury Park.

The second concert is set for Sunday, May 5 at Malibu Bluffs Park.

Cimorelli, which has a YouTube following and is signed to Universal Music's Island label, is made up of six sisters, Christina, Katherine, Lisa, Amy, Lauren, and Dani.
